For everything else I just use the fan oven setting.

It’s coming Tuesday. I’m a cooking/baking novice and I fear all the controls and options may overwhelm my partner, we used to have a all in one cooker that had a fan oven section. It was as simple as selecting and on and a temperature. I was just wondering if you can use the true fan without the steam function? For example, glancing over the instructions it tells you how much water to put in if using steam for all sorts, even a ready meal. Is it really necessary to put water in and use steam for everything like that?

If you put an old baking tray at the bottom of the oven and put some water in it before baking, does it do the same job as steam baking?
